The Indigenous Skills and Employment Program (ISEP) team in Central Australia supported eight Indigenous Stars Foundation students to participate in the Grounded Pathways program in Sydney. Led by Southern Region Manager Peter Ilic and Community Engagement Officer Courtney Kells, the program focused on building resilience, confidence and personal growth in a culturally safe environment.
Feedback from students and families was overwhelmingly positive, with one parent commenting that their daughter returned as a different person following the experience. The program has already delivered tangible outcomes, with one student securing employment at Coles Alice Springs and another pursuing a mechanical apprenticeship. The initiative was made possible through the support of Grounded Pathways and a range of partner organisations, including Taronga Zoo, Tribal Warrior Aboriginal Corporation, Sydney Swans, Stars Foundation, Manly Sea Eagles, Oz Jet Boating, Ethnic Cultural Centre and Qantas.
