Local Government Traineeship Pilot Program
The purpose is to place local people into the local government councils to complete a variety of qualifications through traineeships and apprenticeships. The pilot program will take the form of mentoring up to 25 Trainees and/or Apprentices who will undertake training in a supportive environment that will include well-rounded exposure to the processes required to run local government councils. The pilot program aims to create quality employment and training opportunities for Territorians by offering a sustainable employment pathway and addressing the recognised skills and labour shortage in the NT Local Government Councils within the NT.
GTNT Group is a not-for-profit Group Training Organisation. This means we can be the legal employer of the trainees for the duration of the program and offer support to the trainees and workplaces. The management fee subsidy will be covered for 12 months.
The Local Government Traineeship Pilot Program is a collaboration between GTNT Group, Local Government Association of the NT - LGANT, Industry Skills Advisory Council NT and the Northern Territory Government - Education and Training NT.
