CHC30113 - Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care

 (Release 4)

Qualification Description

This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of early childhood education settings who work within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They support the implementation of an approved learning framework, and support children’s wellbeing, learning and development.

This qualification is delivered by Child Australia through a partnering arrangement with GTNT Group Training.

How will you learn?

Option 1: Delivery will be over an 18-month period with nine one week blocks consisting of a combination of face-to-face theory workshops, work placement and online self-paced learning (Catapult).  
 
Option 2: Delivery will be over an 18-month period with face-to-face theory workshops held one day per month along with combination of work placement and online self-paced learning (Catapult).

This course is offered through a recognition pathway. Your learning has occurred over your years of working in a role which reflect the units of competency.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

RPL is an assessment process that involves assessment of an individual’s relevant prior learning (including formal, informal and non-formal learning) to determine the credit outcomes of an individual application for credit. We will work with students to identify any relevant existing skills and knowledge they may have to determine their eligibility for recognition for any components of the qualification which may save time and avoid unnecessary duplication of training.

Course outline

This qualification consists of 18 units, being made up of 15 core units and 3 elective units of competency from the Community Services Training Package.

Please note that Child Australia does not deliver the unit HLTAID004.

Work Placement Schedule

There is a minimum of 120 hours of work placement in at least one regulated education and care service.

Students following a funded program:
This work placement is arranged by the employer listed on the students individual training plan as part of the funding model.

Students following a fee for service program:
Students who will undertake this program as a fee for service must provide their own work placement to meet the 120 hour of work placement required by the training package.

Work placement will commence in Block-week two following the successful completion of HLTWHS001 - Participate in workplace health and safety.

Location of Delivery

Option 1: Alice Springs, Katherine and Nhulunbuy.
Option 2: Darwin and Alice Springs.

Assessment

Assessment strategies vary with each unit and are inclusive of written tasks, group projects, class discussions, workplace simulations, workplace demonstrations and online assessments. Assessment of practical skills will take place in the students' work placement during block weeks.  Assessments are commenced during block weeks and completed during the time between block weeks.

CHC50113 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care

(Release 4)

Qualification Description

This qualification reflects the role of early childhood educators who are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum in early childhood education and care services. In doing so they work to implement an approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other staff.

Under the Education and Care Services National Law (2011) the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) publishes lists of approved early childhood education and care qualifications and information  regarding regulatory requirements here: www.acecqa.gov.au

This qualification is delivered by Child Australia through a partnering arrangement with GTNT Group Training.

How will you learn?

The program is delivered over 16 months with rolling workshops held monthly. These workshops can be attended by all students more than once. We understand that some students may have availability constraints, we as trainers will provide alternative training time frames that are agreed on between the student and the trainer.

Students are required to work full time or part time (min 15 hours per week) in a registered Early Childhood Education and Care Service. The delivery will consist of online self paced structured learning and assessment activities through Catapult. Practical skills will be overserved in the workplace.

Students are required to complete a logbook that requires 240 hours of work placement, which your trainer will provide information and instructions. Students have a set date for completion of assessments. We take into consideration individual learners abilities and as such additional time will be provided and negotiated.

Students are required to complete a workplace journal of there weekly/monthly work activities. Your trainer will provide information and instructions.

Alice Springs delivery variances include: 3 x 2 hour evening workshops over a week on a monthly visit.

Accreditation

Nationally Recognised Training          GTNT Training Plus RTO Registered training organisation

 

GTNT Group Training is a Recognised Training Organisation that issues nationally recognised qualifications and statements of attainment. RTO code: 0381 

Unique Student Identifier

From 1 January 2015, all students participating in Nationally Recognised Training in Australia will need to have a Unique Student Identifier, or USI. This includes students completing an apprenticeship, skill set, and certificate or diploma course. A USI gives you access to your online USI account and will contain all of your nationally recognised training records and results from 1 January 2015 onwards. Your results will be available in your USI account.  

When applying for a job or enrolling in further study, you will often need to provide your training records and results. One of the main benefits of the USI is that you will have easy access to your training records and results throughout your life.
