“I’ve always dreamed of being a mechanic, but earlier attempts to break into the field proved challenging. Bridge Toyota provided an opportunity for me to start my dream career.”
Choosing to take on an apprenticeship at the age of 28 was a significant decision for Sandon Bott. He had always dreamed of becoming a mechanic, but earlier attempts to break into the field proved challenging. Sandon's dedication to pursuing his dreams has paid off; he is now a first-year apprentice completing a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, hosted to Bridge Toyota Darwin & Palmerston.
While his training journey has presented challenges, such as learning new skills associated with transitioning to an entirely different industry, it has been equally rewarding. He enjoys working alongside experienced mechanics who share their skills and knowledge, boosting his confidence in his abilities. Sandon set a personal goal to not just meet expectations but to excel in the tasks given to him.
In 2023, Sandon received internal recognition from Bridge Toyota when he was chosen as their Apprentice of the Year. His consistent dedication and hard work were acknowledged, and he was grateful for the appreciation. The positive feedback from his colleagues, managers, and Employment Specialist has been incredibly motivating, driving him to achieve more and raise his standard of work quality.
